FAQ - Can I do what I did before e.g. play sports, ski, dance etc?The short answer is very probably, especially after resurfacing of the hip. Knee replacements [of all types] involve gliding movements within the artificial joint that are fundamentally different to anything that happens within the hip, and so most surgeons will counsel against extreme sports in this context. But golf, bowls, doubles tennis from the baseline, skiing, swimming, cycling and dancing should not affect the knee replacement adversely. Examples of activities that are not advisable with a knee replacement include squash, jogging and martial arts i.e. anything that produces high impact and twisting forces across the knee.
