FAQ - Who should I choose to do my operation? It is as tricky to choose the right surgeon as it is finding the right hairdresser, gardener, mechanic, accountant or dentist! Most patients will want someone close to where they live and will need to be an NHS patient unless insured or able to pay for private treatment. There is no substitute for a bit of research and 'local knowledge'. Start with your GP, friends and looking at the websites or directories of local hospitals. Most of the time, you will go on instinct or 'gut feel' - and that is usually right. Essentially, you must instinctively like your surgeon; otherwise he/she is not the right one for you, regardless of reputation. Of course, I will always be happy to see you myself, but I realise that may be logistically impossible!
